Why is Ranger Dan at Day Care?
Combining his passion for the environment and culture with his love of sharing knowledge,
Ranger Dan has created a fun and interactive incursion program for Early Education centres.
This workshop provides education around our Aussie animals and awareness to our Indigenous culture.
Prior to all of this, Ranger Dan worked within the childcare industry for 10 years whilst
completing studies in Environmental Conservation and Land Management.

Bush Safety and Education.
- A range of fun Animal Identification activities using real Animal skulls/bones and feathers
(all skulls have been sterilized and fixed in display boxes). - Animal Education:
– Animals and their homes.
– Basic animal biology – Birds have beaks, Possums have teeth! - What’s Dangerous and what to do – Snakes? Wasps?… Don’t touch them!
- Picture matching Animals with their Habitats/homes.
- Touching on what to do when there might be a bushfire, how/why bushfires start,
what bush-fires fires do and the benefits and consequences that come with them.
Dream Time Story Time.
- Ranger Dan has a huge range of storybooks based on Aboriginal Dream Time Stories.
Along with some help from Ranger Dan’s puppet friend, Koobor the Koala, the children will be taken on magical, historical and cultural adventures through Dream Time Stories. - All of Ranger Dan’s storybooks are written and illustrated by Indigenous Australian authors and illustrators.
Enviro Art.
- Ranger Dan paints with the children using natural objects such a Gum Nuts, leaves and Sticks.
- Using earthy, Aussie type colours such as Browns, Reds, Greens, yellows etc.
- This a bit of fun for the children, for them to express themselves with colours and
patterns, rather painting actual pictures.
Music.
- A fun activity that encourages the Children to learn about sound and vibration. With our fingers on our throats to feel our voices when we chant.
- Ranger Dan brings in his Didgeridoo, another good example of sound and vibration.
- Note: this is a loud activity allowing the Children to express them selves through sound, using the sounds of their voice, Clapping sticks and other basic instruments.
Sessions and the Class room.
Ranger Dan’s incursion are held outside if the weather and your center permits.
Incursions are kept to a Natural, Earthy and Indigenous theme through the range of topics/subjects.
Ranger Dan is very flexible and is happy to meet your program requirements but normally offers the following.
- Ranger Dan’s Split Session Pack.
1 hour visit split into 2 half hour sessions,
1 for your Pre Kinder group and
1 for your Kinder group.
With 2 activities each for the age groups.
- Ranger Dan’s Full Session Pack.
Join both of your age groups for a 1 hour session.
With 3 activities for the joint group.

– For a regular Weekly, Fortnightly or Monthly booking:
$140 for first visit,
$160 for every visit after the first.
– For irregular bookings or once off bookings:
$180 for each visit.
- Ranger Dan’s Full Session Pack.
– For a regular Weekly, Fortnightly or Monthly booking:
$160 for first visit,
$180 for every visit after the first.
– For irregular bookings or once off bookings:
$200 for each visit.
